The London School of Tennis is pleased to invite you to our first ever tennis holidays to the beautiful South of France.

These packages offer tennis players the chance to combine sporting activity with leisure, making it a wonderful long weekend or long week break.

Why Mas du Cantarel?

The villa "Mas du Cantarel" (named after the small stream next to it, called Le Cantarel), is found in the villages of Cannes et Clairan, in the Gard, halfway between the Mediterranean Sea and the beautiful Cevennes mountains, just west of the ancient Roman city of Nimes and north of the elegant and vibrant city of Montpellier.

Situated in a quiet, wine-growing village in Languedoc-Roussillon, France, "Mas du Cantarel" offers luxury chambre d'hôte, accommodation and facilities.

When? Where will I stay?

The villa Mas du Cantarel offers a four-bedroom villa including three beautiful bathrooms. The elegant bedrooms have views to the surrounding countryside. The bedrooms can be configured with either twin beds or super king-size double beds.

At "La Villa", our gites right in the heart of the village and less than a 2-minute walk away from Mas du Cantarel, we have additional accommodation.  This rustic village house has been tastefully renovated with a comfortable sitting area, which has a wood-burning stove and adjoins a modern fitted kitchen. The kitchen has a fridge, a microwave, gas hob, electric oven and dishwasher.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with four singles/two double beds. Laundry facilities are available on request.

Just a short step from your bedroom at Mas du Cantarel is a large solar heated swimming pool with a heated outside shower and a beautiful new all weather tennis court.

Other Sports and Attractions

The Languedoc-Roussillon region is one of France's best-kept secrets. A dramatically varied landscape with beaches to the south and mountains to the north, great rivers like the Herault, Orb and Aude have carved their way through the hills leaving spectacular gorges, whilst vines, olive trees, woodlands and gentle hills intersperse the area between the coast and the mountains.

Just short drives away are the Camargue and Cevennes National Parks, World Heritage sites, five golf courses, horse riding and beaches. We have also teamed up with Times journalist, author and computer expert, Chris Ward-Johnson, who will be pleased to run an individual or group computer master class on the subject or interest of your choice. Mix and match your preferred activities to make the perfect break.

Nimes, situated on the Via Domitia, the main chariot route from Spain to Rome, is linked to its Roman past with its wonderful collection of Roman monuments: the Maison Carre, the world's best preserved Roman temple, founded in 4 AD; Les Arenes, the Coliseum in the centre of the city, which seats 20,000 people and is still used to this day, and last but not least, the Temple of Diana, largely destroyed by Huguenots but with enough fabric remaining to show the scale of the building in Roman times.

Espiguette Beach is 40 minutes from Cannes and forms part of the extensive beach network between the Rhone Estuary and Spain

Espiguette stretches for several kilometres along the Mediterranean, and is backed by vast sand dunes and nature reserves.

Pont du Gard this world heritage site is a must for anyone with even a passing interest in history or architecture. This three-tiered aqueduct, spanning an incredible 275m over the river Gardon, was the vital part of an undertaking to transport water over 50km from the town of Uzes in the north to the fountains of Nimes. Most likely constructed in the mid-first century, the aqueduct carried water 49m above the riverbed below. The banks of the river are an excellent place to picnic and explore the surrounding countryside.

The Camargue is a vast expanse of marshes, crisscrossed by canals, and dominated by great etangs saltwater lagoons. It is home to an incredible variety of waterfowl ; look out for pink flamingos, herons, grand cormorants and egrets.

The Camargue is where the Gard's strong traditions of horsemanship and tauromachie originate, on the great ranches where horses and wild bulls are left to graze on the salty scrub.

Montpellier, a medieval city, is said by many to be the most exciting city in France. Home to a wonderful array of shops, a host of artistic festivals and events, and a beautiful architectural fusion of the classical and avant-garde.
